The We Global Football Predictor
Our original goal in creating We Global Football was to create something that could properly predict the outcome of matches. Whether it be for fun or with a wager on the line, having a system is better than having no system at all. We set out to create this system about 6 months ago, and over time it has grown to become what it is today.
This system has been tested and calibrated over the course of several months and we feel that currently there is no better system out there for predicting the result of international matches. We have assigned a Home Advantage of 0.75 goals, and feel that this is a reasonable addition.
Since the inception of our site, this Saturday’s AFC Challenge Cup matches will be the first fixtures we may test this on. For example, Myanmar’s predictor is 93.25. Since they are at home, we add 0.75 to their total to get 94.00. Guam’s predictor is 92.00. As a result, we expect Myanmar to win by 2 goals. Similarly, India’s predictor is 93.35, and Chinese Taipei’s is 92.42. Since this game is being played at a neutral venue, we do not add a home advantage. The result is an expected win for India. Since Northern Mariana Islands are not a FIFA nation, we do not have a predictor value for them, but we’d expect Nepal to win.
The rankings page contains all of the team values from which you can calculate potential future match results. We will continue to post our expected winners throughout all major tournaments and friendlies.
